Burgess launches marine conservation programme.

Burgess is delighted to announce the launch of the Marine Conservation Programme in association with Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE). The programme will offer clients the opportunity to counteract the environmental impact of their yachting activities by donating a Marine Conservation Fee.

The programme is optional for our clients but we hope that in time it will become customary to contribute to ocean conservation as part of a yachting holiday. At Burgess, we contribute to BLUE by paying a Marine Conservation Fee on our company travel. However we choose to be part of this exceptional industry, we can all be guardians of our oceans.

This new initiative was devised by the Burgess CSR team, Burgess Blue Oceans, and forms an integral part of the wider CSR strategy.

The programme for clients entails the optional payment of a Marine Conservation Fee that serves to counteract for the impact of their cruising and which is calculated according to the business they do with us. The fee goes direct to projects in the Mediterranean and Maldives.


Burgess has also agreed to donate proportionally to the impact of company travel too. This goes to BLUE core funding, which keeps the organisation running.

This a fantastic achievement and the result of 12 month’s work by the Burgess Blue Oceans team. As the company moves forward with its commitment to sustainability these initiatives will become of paramount importance and key to the longevity of our business.

From our own in-house practices to working in harmony with the wider industry, whether with yacht owners and charterers, crew on our managed yachts or with shipyards, only by working together can we really make a sustainable yachting future a reality. We know we have a long way to go though.

The vision?

Clean, healthy oceans alive with biodiversity and secure for future generations … And beyond that? Well, wouldn’t a carbon neutral yacht be something! But it’s up to all of us and the time to act is now.
