The 70.1m (229.9ft) GALACTICA SUPER NOVA was built to ABS classification and MCA compliance and delivered in 2016 by renowned Dutch shipyard Heesen as the largest yacht the yard has ever built.
She features Van Oossanen's FDHF (Fast Displacement Hull Form) naval architecture, which reduces hull resistance by 20 percent and dramatically lowers the power required to reach a given speed compared to standard displacement hull designs. Her exteriors are by Espen Oeino International and Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design created her interior styling. She is a yacht of impeccable Northern European provenance.
Her huge sun deck has an oval observation lounge forward of another lounge area with coffee tables. Sliding glass screens keep the wind away from the fully equipped sit-up bar, buffet and open air dining. All of this section is shaded by the hardtop. Aft of this is a lounge area with custom club chairs and sunpads surrounded by glass screen to preserve the views while blocking the breeze.
The upper deck aft provides another option for open air dining and aft is sun lounge seating and more club chairs for digestifs after dinner, plus access to the sky lounge creates another entertainment space. Once again glass screens deliver views while keeping the outside space child friendly.
The main deck aft has a 6m (19.8ft) infinity pool with resistance jets, spa jets, glass panels in the bottom and an atmospheric waterfall feature below skylights in the overhang above. Forward of the pool is a lounge area and aft steps lead down to a large swim platform.
To starboard, the sidedeck leads forward to steps leading up to the multipurpose foredeck, which serves as a touch-and-go helipad, outdoor cinema with a 4m screen rigged on removable carbon poles and surround sound, as well as a sun lounge and entertainment space. Tenders and toys are stowed below and launched through shell doors.
The lower deck aft is home to her spectacular beach club, which has sea terraces aft and to port and dappled natural light through the pool above. There is a marble-topped sit-up bar, a lounge with a TV screen and a dayhead with shower. The beach club's lighting and sound system can be synchronised with that on the main deck aft to create a large entertaining space.
The main saloon has three areas: aft is a convivial lounge area with coffee tables for socialising close to the main deck aft, forward of that is a library with a mesmerising open fireplace and forward again is a formal dining area.
Forward of that is a lobby with a stunning spiral staircase winding around an glass and steel elevator that serves lower to upper decks.
She welcomes 12 guests in six cabins. The full-beam owner's suite is forward on the main deck and features onyx panels and his and hers bathrooms are linked by a large walk-in rainfall shower. There is a VIP apartment with elevated views on the upper deck, complete with en suite, private study and a lounge that can convert into a seventh guest cabin, a second study or a staff cabin. There are four double cabins, all en suite, on the lower deck.
Twin 5,766hp MTU diesel engines driving propellers and a 4,184 MTU powered booster jet combine to give her a top speed of 30 knots and she also has a transatlantic range of 4,000nm at her passage speed of 12 knots. Quantum stabilisers keep her guests comfortable at anchor and underway.
