Charles Gordon, the great-grandson of the distiller’s founder William Grant, served in the Royal Navy from 1945 to 1948. Based out of Malta he served aboard HMS Sussex.
The last yacht he owned was the 39m (127.9ft) sailing yacht CINDERELLA IV, designed by Tripp, built by Dutch sailing yacht specialist Vitters using the most advanced carbon fibre technology of the day and delivered in 2009.
On a yacht capable of up to 300nm a day, Charles circumnavigated the globe in the 1990s and he completed his final transatlantic voyage in 2012.
