Captain Mike O'Neill of 61.3m motor yacht KATHERINE offers his exclusive itinerary for cruising the stunning Adriatic coastline.

Starting in Budva, Montenegro, join KATHARINE as she winds along the Croatian coast taking in the fantastic scenery and the medieval cities including a stop at the renowned vineyard of Korta Katarina.

    Transfer from the airport to meet motor yacht KATHARINE berthed in Marina Budva. Take your time to settle in on board while enjoying an al fresco lunch. KATHARINE will depart the marina after lunch and take a scenic cruise along the Montenegrin coast and into the Bay of Kotor.

    The yacht will berth in the historic town of Kotor for the night.

    TOP TIP: Enjoy a nightcap at Hotel Cattaro’s Citadella Bar located on an open-air terrace on top of Kotor’s defensive walls.


    KATHARINE will depart Kotor during breakfast allowing guests to enjoy a leisurely cruise heading north along the coast to the first Croatian town of Cavtat.

    Here we will berth in the port and take care of customs formalities. Once completed, guests may explore this quaint village before KATHARINE continues on to anchor off of Dubrovnik. Enjoy the afternoon visiting the stores and sights of Dubrovnik.

    Historical lore indicates that Dubrovnik (Ragusa) was founded in the 7th century on a rocky island named Laus, which provided shelter for refugees from the nearby city of Epidaurum. A feature of Dubrovnik is its walls that run almost 2 km (1.24mi) around the city. The walls run from four to six meters thick on the landward side but are much thinner on the seaward side. The system of turrets and towers were intended to protect the vulnerable city.

    TOP TIP: Enjoy an early dinner at the renowned Nautika Restaurant that overlooks the old city.


    KATHARINE will depart Dubrovnik at first light and cruise north towards the island of Mljet. Enjoy breakfast underway while taking in the breathtaking scenery passing by. The yacht will anchor in the National Park of Polače upon arrival. Spend the day riding bicycles, touring the National Park and visiting the island of Sveta Marija and the Benedictine’s Monastery. A short mid-afternoon cruise will see KATHARINE anchor off the village of Pomena for the night.

    Polače is a village in the western part of the northern coast of Mljet. It has a number of ancient ruins dating from the 1st to the 6th century.

    TOP TIP: Visit the 5th century Roman palace where the walls dominate the village below. This is one of the largest buildings in Dalmatia from the Roman period.


    Departing Mljet after a picturesque breakfast cruise, KATHARINE will drop anchor off the historic maritime village of Orebic.

    After lunch take a short visit up to the historic Franciscan monastery to take in the amazing views across the bay, before returning to KATHARINE for a short cruise to the enchanting town of Korcula. Regaled as Marco Polo’s birthplace, it is a miniature Dubrovnik with its fortified walls and towers. Spend the evening soaking up the city. Dine aboard or opt to go out in the old town and visit the very popular Konoba Adio Mare restaurant, right next to Marco Polo’s house.

    TOP TIP: Tender ashore in Orebic for lunch and wine tasting at the world renowned Korta Katarina winery.


    A morning cruise will see KATHARINE anchor off Uvala Stipanska, right in front of “Carpe Diem Beach”. Enjoy a morning swim before heading to Hvar via tender in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the town.

    TOP TIP: Take a stroll up the hill to visit the Fortezza Spanjola, a fortress perched high above the old town which was built at the beginning of the 16th century (in the time of Venice), and offers spectacular views over the town and surrounds.


    Having departed Hvar very early, wake up while KATHARINE cruises up the Krka River (near Sibenik) and anchors mid morning next to the town of Skradin.

    This freshwater paradise is located on the Krka river, with the main attractions being the beautiful series of waterfalls, ancient mills (visited by local boat) and the small Franciscan island of Visovac. After a short hike and exploring the waterfalls, return to KATHARINE for a late lunch while cruising back down the river to spend the night alongside in the town of Sibenik.

    TOP TIP: Take an early evening stroll through the labyrinth of pedestrian streets in the old town, and visit the Cathedral of St Jacob (a UNESCO heritage site), before returning aboard KATHARINE for dinner.


    KATHARINE will depart early from Sibenik and anchor mid morning near the city of Split. More than 1700 years old, Split is rich with heritage and is famous for its restaurants, shops historic attractions.

    Guests will be dropped off by tender to enjoy a guided walking tour of the city, including Roman ruins of Diocletian's palace. After enjoying a casual lunch at a local eatery, travel by road to the old Antic city of Salona, to view the ancient ruins. Continue on to Trogir, a quaint medieval village, filled with churches, towers, fortresses and outdoor restaurants, where KATHARINE will be berthed for the night.

    TOP TIP Dinner will be enjoyed ashore at one of Trogir’s quaint restaurants.

    After a hearty breakfast, take a morning stroll through the streets of Trogir, before transferring by road to Split airport to bid farewell to your Croatian adventure on board motor yacht KATHARINE.
