Classical lines and huge sail power combine to make MARIE an exciting new addition to the Burgess charter fleet in 2015. This characterful 55m (180.5ft) vessel, with accommodation for eight guests in four cabins and a striking red and black hull, was custom-built along classic gentleman’s yacht lines by Vitters in 2010. A fast, safe and stable sailing yacht, she has proven regatta performance with a triumphant win in the 2014 St Barth’s Bucket.

MARIE masterfully combines thoroughbred racing credentials with sublime comfort and the full superyacht lifestyle. Her light, open-plan interior is bursting with personality in the form of traditional features including miniature cannons, muskets and a suit of armour that all reference the Golden Age of marine exploration. A split-level salon is illuminated by large skylights that filter plenty of natural light into the relaxed, cosy deck house. A more formal setting below features a Steinway baby grand piano, dining table and a state-of-the-art audio-visual system which operates throughout the yacht.

Highlights include the unique 3.7m (12ft) launch, MARIETTA, which was designed by Mylne in 1910. This beautiful sailing dinghy has an electric motor and is perfect for exploring quiet bays, or teaching children to sail. The young and the mischievous will enjoy playing ‘pirates’, taking the opportunity to take a salute from MARIE’s fully-operational cannons! Those with a head for heights will love the crow’s nest lift, which can hoist two guests 37.5m (123ft) up the main mast for spectacular views. And there is ample space for watersports equipment including kayaks, waterskis, wakeboards and inflatable tows.

The large, sheltered cockpit is a favourite spot for al fresco dining and relaxing at anchor, and the wide decks beyond provide ample opportunities to bask in the sun. The master suite has its own private cockpit, creating a romantic setting aft for sundowners or an after dinner aperitif, before retiring to the full beam master cabin with its en suite steam room and deck house study. The guest double cabin is equally light and airy, and there are two twin cabins (one converts to a double) each with a pullman berth.

MARIE is served by a dedicated crew of nine who are as passionate about five-star service as they are about sailing. She is available for charter in the Caribbean this winter and will be cruising the Mediterranean in summer 2015.

Winter 2015 charter rates: USD 196,000 – 231,000 per week.
Summer 2015 charter rates: EUR 168,000 – 189,000 per week.
