The 56m (183.7ft) Benetti GALAXY has undergone a dramatic refit under her new owner, transforming her interior until it is almost unrecognisable.

Watch the video below for a taste of the GALAXY luxury charter experience:

Her über-cool new look was masterminded by designer Oliver Stirling of Stirling & Co, who gave GALAXY a full structural refit, creating new uplifting, multi-purpose spaces that would appeal to many tastes. All furniture, carpets, lighting, audio-visual equipment, bathroom fixtures, bed linens, soft furnishings and service ware was overhauled and renewed.

The designers’ challenge was to deliver GALAXY into a new era of charter, using a combination of stainless steel, glass, white marmorino and ivory leather to complement the existing white lacquer, maple, walnut and teak décor. Rich textured monochromatic fabrics were applied to contemporary bespoke furniture, blinds and panelling, while pale silky carpets were chosen to round off the luxury finish. Pieces of the owner’s 20th century modern art collection, including several Basquiats, a La Chapelle and a Warhol, give GALAXY a unique character and cutting edge appeal.

At the entrance to the main saloon a new internally lit white onyx bar with a huge champagne bath catches the eye. Comfortable seating alcoves were created from matching sofas, with glass palisander coffee tables sliding over leather pouffes to maximise space. Moving forward, a striking backlit agate wall creates a dramatic backdrop to the new palisander, glass and stainless steel dining table, lit by a contemporary chandelier.

Entrance to the full beam duplex master suite with observation lounge is via the re-modelled study with a new minimalist desk and concealed storage areas. Natural light floods from huge windows where custom-made Le Corbusier inspired chaise longues rest in alcoves, offering incredible views out to sea. The observation lounge was completely reimagined, with comfortable chairs and a huge elevated day bed offering 180° views across the bow. The area also converts into a personal cinema with a vast pop-up flat screen television and audiophile sound system.

The upper deck saloon, which also serves as a cinema lounge, was radically reimagined to create a relaxing space with a cool, funky vibe for informal entertaining. Deep white sofas, large rotating leather chairs, a bar and an 80” concealed television with overhead surround sound make this a favourite area with guests. An indoor/outdoor dining area with semi-circular, floor-to-ceiling, sliding glass panels is located aft and offers spectacular dining with a view.

The transformation extended outdoors to include new backlit dining tables, state-of-the-art lighting and audio-visual systems. All gym equipment (top of the range kinesis machine, treadmill and exercise bike) and watertoys were replaced for the latest models, including a brand new 7.1m Whitmarsh custom tender.

Since April, GALAXY has been booked solid with back-to-back charters, hosting film stars at the Cannes Film Festival and receiving acclaim from her new generation of clientele. Led by Australian Captain Luke Humphries with 13 years’ experience in the superyacht industry, GALAXY’s international crew of 14 are excellent all-rounders with a wide range of skills, a dynamic team approach and a professional work ethic.

GALAXY is now heading across the Atlantic to make her debut at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show, in preparation for the winter season in the Caribbean.
