The X40 LANDER is a 11.5m (37.7ft) ingenious and durable aluminium-hulled beach lander capable of delivering ashore anything from a party of guests to a beach set-up to a Range Rover. Conceived and built by Dave MacFarlane and Jim Ewing of Rhode Island’s Reliant Yachts, she is fitted with a blue ARROW Hamilton joystick control system for pin-point manoeuvring so any cargo can be unloaded with absolute precision.
This is a supremely capable craft. She could spend the morning transporting goods or vehicles with her hydraulic bow door for ‘roll-on roll-off’ loading and the carbon fibre davit to lift heavy loads off the dock. At lunchtime she could entertain 14 guests as she has hydraulic folding carbon fibre balconies either side with integral stainless steel grab rails, removable awnings for shade, a dining table that rises from the Flexiteek deck and a galley aft of the helm station.
During the afternoon she could serve as a dive tender as she has a folding swim platform aft. Come the evening she becomes a party boat as she has an entertainment system with Apple AirPlay and Wi-Fi, a TV in the front of the helm station and underwater lights for atmosphere. There's even a compact climate-controlled head in the helm station, all powered by a 6kW Onan generator.
She has twin 355hp Cummins diesel engines driving Hamilton jet drives rather than props so she can operate in shallow water, and she has a top speed of 20 knots. Seakeeper 3 gyro stabilisers ensure comfort and there are ballast tanks to trim the craft if the load is uneven. As she is designed to operate close to the shoreline, she has pop-up hydraulic winches fore and aft so she can be kedged onshore and off again.
