The maths is very simple. If you cruise at 20 knots, you can cover twice as much ocean and take in twice as many ports as you could cruising at 10 knots. For 30 knots it’s a multiple of three.
Another advantage of performance yachts is that their fast, planing hulls generally have very shallow draft of less than 2m (6.6ft). That means you can access those special, hidden-away ports and anchorages that larger yachts with deeper drafts simply can’t visit.

MATSU is a 36.5m (119.6ft) performance yacht delivered by ISA Yachts in 2007. She cruises at a lively 27 knots and has a top speed of 32 knots. The Pershing 108 LEVANTINE II is a 33.2m (109ft) yacht delivered in 2013. She has a blistering top speed of 40 knots and cruises at 36 knots with eight guests in four suites. Following a recent price reduction LEVANTINE II is now asking EUR 6,000,000, again with EU VAT paid, and you can get on board in Antibes.
