Exclusive Prime Berth Real Estate

One increasingly pressing consideration for superyachts is where you are going to berth it. As the global fleet of superyachts carries on full steam ahead past the 5,000 mark, with no sign of the average superyacht getting any smaller, the challenge in finding a berth is compounded twofold.

Without corresponding growth in the number of marinas capable of adequately ‘housing’ the freshly minted superyachts, and with a very large vessel effectively taking up the space of at least two smaller ones, there naturally follows a serious imbalance in the supply and demand stakes. Although there are adventurous superyachts blazing trails to remote locations around the globe, the vast majority of superyacht owners are still choosing to berth in the Mediterranean (some estimations are around 50 per cent of the global fleet).

Luckily, a number of developers were able to foresee the situation. The result: an exciting new breed of superyacht marinas, with convenience and comfort at their core. More than just a car park on water, these new ‘supermarinas’ offer a range of facilities from restaurants, cafes and bars to gyms, car rental and yacht suppliers. Often beautifully landscaped and conveniently located, these marinas are enjoyable places to experience as an owner, as well as for the captain and crew.

Berth sales along the French Riviera, having enjoyed the majority of the early superyacht activity, have long since dried up with all but the occasional spot opening up for larger superyachts. There are exciting new developments peppered throughout the Mediterranean basin in convenient spots across Spain and Italy, however. Burgess is currently representing 15 superyacht berths in such attractive new marinas, from 35m to 130m, and our brokers can advise owners on the best choice to suit their needs and priorities.

Located to the west of Mallorca, Port Adriano is known for its Philippe Starck design that puts style and substance on equal footing. The legendary French designer considered the marina’s guest experience and made it a place you would want to stay rather than one from which to depart on a trip. Shopping, restaurants and bars set in landscaped spaces make Port Adriano a destination as well as a home berth location. Burgess is representing a berth for sale in the marina.

Marina Genova has long been a convenient berth location for superyachts, with its proximity to the French and Italian Rivieras, significant number of marine service providers on hand and capacity to take superyachts up to 130m in length. The charming city of Genoa has excellent transport links, whether for crew and support professionals flying in or for guests and the owner. Burgess is representing a berth for sale in the marina.

La Spezia’s Porto Mirabello is a well considered marina development that has already welcomed some of the most iconic superyachts in the world. Developers have placed an emphasis on enjoyment and experience at the marina, with seven restaurants, bars and cafes of varying formality, boat and luxury car rentals and wide docks and jetties for large superyachts. There is also a heliport with easy access from Pisa International Airport. Porto Mirabello has ample capacity for superyachts up to 130m, and Burgess is representing 10 berths for sale in the marina.

A few miles from cosmopolitan Barcelona, Port Forum is a fantastic choice of homeport due to the proximity of world-class superyacht refit yard MB92, excellent international transport links and good value in operational costs compared with some other European destinations. A long established superyacht hub, Port Forum offers berthing for vessels up to 80m in length as well as a range of support services and shops within the marina. Burgess represents three superyacht berths available for sale at Port Forum.
