Winter charter holidays in the Caribbean

John Cichanowicz, our Burgess Charter Broker in Miami and ex-yacht Captain, provides his personal recommendation for a great Caribbean charter.

The Caribbean is the ultimate charter destination to discover for the first time or all over again! Warm, sandy beaches abound and will entice you while anchored off your own private island for the day or night. How about letting your crew create a phenomenal private beach BBQ along with your own selection of water toys and reggae band to boot? No problem: no request is too great or small.

There are so many islands to discover, the choice is yours. St Barths is and has always been a favourite destination. It is the ‘St Tropez’ of the Caribbean with its French flare, fine dining, shopping and beautiful people. One of the best harbours in the area is Gustavia. Head to the Carl Gustaf Hotel for a stunning view from the top of the town - and an irresistible dinner menu - or to Eden Roc on the ocean side for an equally memorable vista. Don’t miss the day clubbing/beaching at Nikki Beach, Plage de St Jean, or you can even rent a mini-moke to explore the island. This is the place to see and be seen over the New Year - but as berths are at a premium and difficult to come by, many yachts anchor outside in the bay for the party. If you like the South of France, then you will love this place - it’s like the Riviera in the tropics.

The ideal time for a winter charter is any time between December and April, when the weather is fabulously warm, sunny and breezy. Get ready to shed those winter layers and trade your snowsuit for a swimsuit; contact your Burgess broker to plan your Caribbean charter today.
