EXPLORE THE HOTTEST DESTINATION FOR 2016: THE BALEARICS

Although relatively new on the superyacht scene, the Balearic Islands of Ibiza, Mallorca and Formentera have won the hearts of many a traveller. Draped in sunshine, glistening with exclusive clubs and sparkling with azure blue waters, these islands are an exclusive fusion of laid back Caribbean meets uber luxe Monaco.

Spending a summer in the islands offers an abundance of beautiful coves to discover mixed with cool beach clubs and high end restaurants. Burgess boasts a number of superyachts equipped with a charter license to operate in Spanish waters, so be in and among the charter revolution taking place in the Balearics and charter a superyacht with Burgess.

Mallorca: escape the crowds and anchor off Cala Varques (also known as Cala Barques). The only way to arrive is via yacht, unless you hike for 15 minutes. Located on the east coast, this isolated cove offers 90 metres of pristine sand backed by a lush green forest fringe. The sea is delightfully turquoise bordered by craggy cliffs that are great for climbing before dropping into the translucent waters below. Opt for a super sporty yacht complete with a bursting toy chest of jet skis and inflatables such as 49.9m FORCE INDIA and 33.7m BENITA BLUE, both will ensure you make the most out of this hidden cove.

Formentera may be the baby of the Balearics but it certainly has a lot to offer the charterer without the crowds of the other islands. Es Calo is a calm and beautiful bay on the northern coast of the island which boasts translucent waters filled with colourful marine life. 58.6m CAPRI would be the perfect choice for relaxing in the bay. With an on board masseuse, there is no better backdrop to indulge in a little ‘me’ time. The 43m motor yacht DIANE offers an anti-jellyfish swimming pool, plus a plethora of watertoys including stand-up paddle boards ideal for exploration.

Brand new to the Burgess charter fleet, 40.9m AZIZA would fit in perfectly sailing the seas around Ibiza. Experimental Beach Ibiza is an exclusive club located on the famous Las Salinas beach, ask the captain to drop anchor so you can jump on the tender and arrive in style. Without doubt the best spot to watch the legendary sun set in Ibiza is the small anchorage of Cala Conta. The beach gets busy in high season but jump on the toys and create your own fun before relaxing on deck as the sun sets on the horizon casting mesmerising shadows over the Bledes Islands and the Isle of Esparto.
