The outstanding 39m explorer yacht SAFIRA recently featured on CNN Money in a Life At The Top video feature. Burgess sales broker Crispin Baynes, based in the New York office, discussed the long-range capabilities of the yacht, her ‘green’ credentials and superyacht styling. With great footage of the yacht in Greenland, CNN also interviewed Captain Walter Wetmore who explained the owners’ interest in the environment and global warming.

The award-winning SAFIRA is a one of a kind, ‘green’ custom-built global explorer yacht, delivered in 2013. Remarkably engineered by Newcastle Marine/Tyneside Yachts, she has unsurpassed sea handling capability and state-of-the-art equipment. With energy saving features including LED lightbulbs and improved insulation, SAFIRA is able to operate with smaller generators, helping reduce fuel consumption. Recycled or renewable materials were used to great effect in the interior, and teak decks have been substituted for a man-made material that looks equally good and is just as durable. SAFIRA also uses a dynamic positioning GPS system to avoid anchoring in sensitive areas such as coral reefs.

With an ice-strengthened hull and aluminium superstructure, she has a range of 8800nm and Quantum zero speed stabilisers. SAFIRA accommodates 10 guests in five cabins and is built for the ultimate adventurer.

SAFIRA won the Naval Architecture Award at the 2013 Showboats Design Awards, and is offered for sale at US$28,000,000.
