Tracing a golden trail from the Straits of Gibraltar to the southern tip of Sicily, sailing the seas of the west Mediterranean is a breath-taking experience. Aside from the obvious stunning aesthetics, the region offers an exciting calendar of fast and furious racing action.

This year Burgess is proud to present a vast selection of fine sailing yachts available for all, or some of the regattas.

Widely renowned as the inaugural event for the summer, the Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, Porto Cervo gathers some of the world’s largest and most beautiful sailing yachts. The ninth edition of the event takes place from 7 June, 2016 for four days of sailing in Sardinia’s La Maddalena region. As famous for its social programme as it is for the spectacular display of fine vessels, for those participating and spectating, a varied selection of quayside events ranging from cocktail parties to formal dinners take place. This year opt for one of the largest sailing vessels in the water.  Truly spirited and highly characterful, the stunning 54.9m (180ft) MARIE is one of the most revered sailing yachts on the water. Since inauguration in 2010, MARIE has entered and finished in the top three of no less than 11 regattas worldwide, so she is perfectly placed to charter as a spectator.

Hot on the heels of the Loro Piana regatta is The Superyacht Cup Palma. Celebrating its 20th year, join some true greats in the world of sailing for four days of exhilarating race action. On 22 June, 2016 the programme of both racing and social events start. This year sees a host of extra events for all to participate in, including a stand-up paddle board contest. Choose 46.9m (154ft) ASOLARE for a truly elegant yacht. Three cabins accommodate six to seven guests in extremely luxurious cabins. Large deck space is ideal to watch the racing action with a cocktail in hand. LADY B 44.7m (146.8ft) is a great fun choice too with her swim platform offering direct access into the water, maybe perfect your skills on the paddle boards before entering the contest.

Closing the Med season is the world-renowned Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez. With the chance to win the coveted Rolex Trophy, both classic and modern-day sailers will arrive from all corners of the globe to be in with a chance of picking up the prestigious prize. Starting on 24 September, classic yachts will race for four days whereas the contemporary category will go for five days. Each year more than 300 yachts compete making for a spectacular show of classic meets modern.The iconic 56.4m (185ft) MONDANGO 3 will be available in the region for spectating. Hosting 10 guests in five cabins she is a high performance yacht draped in style and luxury.
