Burgess Yachts

SVEA is a 43.6m (143ft) J Class yacht delivered by Vitters in 2017. Naval architecture is by Hoek Design based on an original but never built 1937 design by Tore Holm and her interior is by the collective of Hoek Design and deVosdeVries Design, who stepped in when the late Pieter Beeldsnijder passed.

She is the longest and the latest J Class ever built and it is testament to the resurgent popularity of this sublimely beautiful Class that there are more sailing now than there ever were in their America's Cup heyday. As a route into gentlemen's yachting, SVEA is unsurpassed and she arrives to market as the newly-crowned J Class champion 2018.

This ocean greyhound is built in aluminium to Lloyd's 100 A1 with teak decks. One of her unusual features is the size of her steering wheel, which allows the helm to position themselves further outboard for a better view of the foresail telltales, a clear performance advantage.

Cream panels and walnut veneers keep her bright down below and her main saloon benefits from a large deck light, flooding the space with natural light. There is a lounge area and bar to port with dining to starboard, and the TV links to Apple TV and a Sonos sound system. There is a similar audio-visual system in the owner's cabin, and one double cabin and one twin cabin complete versatile accommodation for six guests.

Recently finished winter works included having the hull stripped back, skimmed, faired, antifouled and wet-sanded for a race finish. During a busy season of racing her captain noted several small improvements that could be made to the deck layout to improve still further her racing pedigree and those are being undertaken at the moment alongside several other upgrade projects to leave her in better-than-new condition.

Her current owner has spared no expense. SVEA comes with a complete wardrobe of North 3Di RAW racing sails and a delivery wardrobe, a carbon mast by Southern Spars, a 10m Humber RIB with twin Yamaha 200hp outboards and enough spares and supplies to fill the three 40ft containers, also included in the sale, that travel with her around the world. When the wind dies, her Scania DI 13 070M main engine and 8,380-litre fuel tank give her a range of 2,200nm at a cruising speed of 8.5kn.

We are honoured to bring SVEA to market and all expressions of interest are welcomed. She is lying in Palma where urgent inspection is recommended.
