  • CENTRAL AGENCY LISTINGS MANAGER, USA X 2

    Reporting to the Brokerage Sales and Marketing Manager and working as part of the CALM team, you will take responsibility for a number of Central Agency (CA) yachts and the acquisition of new CA’s.

    A highly rewarding but challenging role, requiring an eye for detail, quick thinking and the ability to manage multiple projects. The role may also require a limited amount of overseas travel.

    Job Description:

    • Prepare the Central Agency (CA) Proposal and Marketing Strategy pitches for new CA yachts.
    • Responsible for the collation of all documentation required to launch a new CA yacht to market.
    • Effectively manage the marketing campaign and assist with the collation of contractual documentation at the point of sale.
    • Working with the lead broker, establish and manage relationships with the Captain and where appropriate the owner / owner’s rep.
    • Assist the Lead Broker in the creation of client sales updates and additional information.
    • Manage the first line of enquiry for each of your allocated yachts and coordinate all inspections.
    • As part of the marketing campaign introduce clients to the full range of Burgess yacht services
    • Ensure all yacht details are fully up to date an consistent across all sales platforms including NIGEL and other 3rd party sites
    • Coordinate all advertising campaigns for your allocated CA Yachts
    • Responsible for the participation of your allocated CA yachts at Boat Shows, Broker Open days and bespoke events.
    • Coordinate all sales material for your allocated CA yachts across multi platforms including print, digital, social media and online. 

     

    The successful candidate should have:

    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, CRM and PowerPoint.

  • CHARTER MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT, MIAMI

    Burgess is a leading global superyacht brokerage business for more than 40 years. The company provides a full range of yachting services including charter management to a very discerning clientele of ultra-high net worth individuals.

    Working in our Miami office as the Administrative Assistant to our Charter Managers who act as the Central Agents for a prestigious fleet of large motor and sailing yachts. The department’s objective is to provide a comprehensive service to our yacht owners, charter brokers and to the captains of the managed fleet, while maximising charter revenue opportunities.

    Job responsibilities include:

    • Provide assistance in areas to include general correspondence, enquiries, bookings, management of client and yacht files both hard copy and electronic, proof reading and editing of correspondence and reports before distribution
    • CRM data entry including the recording of enquiries, bookings. charter progress sheets, contacts and client relationships
    • Book travel for department staff
    • Liaise with Accounts department to arrange the provision of APAs (advance provisioning allowance) to the yachts, VAT payments and bank transfers
    • Assist with marketing and marketing strategies, yacht electronic presentations, departmental industry updates, announcements, electronic mailings, broker updates and brochure distribution
    • Update yacht information listed on industry information websites including; rates, specifications, crew profiles, bookings, photography
    • Update information on the Burgess website, including any newsworthy items
    • Event organization for central agency yachts attending charter shows
    • Compile information from various sources for charter reports to be distributed to owners annually
    • Compile Charter Managers monthly credit card and cash expenses and enter information on Excel spreadsheet
    • Reception duty rota one week out of the month
    • Attendance and participation at the Ft Lauderdale Boat Show and Yachts Miami Beach show is expected; attendance may also be required at other major yacht charter shows (i.e. Palm Beach International Boat Show, MYBA Charter Show in Genoa and Antigua Charter Show) 

     

    Skills & competencies:

    • Must prove eligibility to work in the United States
    • Microsoft Office including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop. Prior knowledge of CRM an added benefit
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • Excellent organizational skills (computer and paper files)
    • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks on deadline
    • Comfortable with math calculations and figures
    • Current passport is essential
    • An interest in marketing & creative design would be an advantage

  • BROKERAGE ASSISTANT, MIAMI

    We are looking for an Administrative Assistant to support our Miami based yacht brokerage team. 

    Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Formatting documents and presentations using Word, Excel, Photoshop and Adobe Pro
    • Input accurate information into NIGEL
    • Execution of mailing campaigns
    • Filing and organizing sales brochures
    • Data entry and data mining
    • Booking travel itineraries
    • Meeting and greeting clients
    • Boat show support
    • Limited travel may be required


    The ideal candidate will:

    • Have a college degree
    • Have a keen interest in a client focused industry
    • Have a strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality
    • Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, Adobe Pro and Outlook
    • Have a working knowledge of PowerPoint
    • Possess excellent written, verbal and mathematical skills
    • Have personal travel experience and a current Passport

    We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual to take on a new role supporting various members of the Asia team and with a particular focus on sale and purchase.

    A wide-ranging role with a diverse set of responsibilities and great potential to develop further, that requires a proactive yet methodical approach to getting the job done. Working with an international team based predominantly in Asia and Monaco, the candidate will need to have a flexible approach to working to manage the time zone disparity.

    The role will be based in Monaco.

    The successful candidate will speak excellent English and Chinese (Mandarin). Knowledge of French or other European languages is desirable.

    We are currently recruiting a self-motivated retail broker for our Charter division based in the USA.

    The broker will serve as an integral part of the Burgess team and deliver the high standards synonymous with the Burgess brand. The successful candidate will build on an extensive client base and will be expected to communicate at the highest level. The position is based in our Miami office however the role will involve extensive travel both nationally and internationally.

  • TECHNICAL MANAGER, LONDON

    Reporting to the Fleet Technical Manager you will provide technical management and support to assigned vessels within the Burgess managed fleet. You will work closely with existing Burgess Management teams worldwide.

     

    Duties:

    • Technical Management of assigned vessels including Yachts, Passenger Yachts and Passenger Ships.
    • Adhere to all approved technical, safety and security procedures and contribute to their development; update technical contact information on company IT systems and manage any relevant technical documentation.
    • Provide interpretation of Class Rules and other related regulations; manage Class society block fee agreements; Monitor class survey schedules and requirements; Liaise with attending Class and Flag surveyors to ensure all items are dealt with satisfactorily.
    • Promote the effective use of PMS systems and appropriate conditioning monitoring techniques; assist with establishing Planned Maintenance Systems and ensure PMS contains all flag, class, builders, manufacturers and company requirements; review maintenance reports and provide feedback.
    • In partnership with the Yacht Manager, create a long term plan of major works.
    • Review all reported defects, analyse any significant defects and introduce measures to prevent recurrence.
    • Manage dry docking and refits; create refit specifications, shortlist suitable shipyards and manage tendering process; monitor refit costs, quality and schedules; attend on-board yacht or at shipyard for planning and progress meetings as required; provide support with warranty claims on completion of refit.
    • Provide round the clock support in the event of technical difficulties; duty manager rota and emergency response team participation; provide general technical and commercial advice and guidance; provide assistance with Insurance Claims.
    • Review any relevant manufacturer’s bulletins and service publications relating to on-board main machinery and ensure any remedial actions required are undertaken.
    • Assist with requests for urgent spares or services and manage the relevant logistics.
    • Ensure an adequate fluid sampling and analysis programme is adhered to. Review analysis reports, provide advice as required ensuring any resulting actions required are dealt with on a priority basis in line with maintenance or refit planning.
    • Ensure all yachts lifting gear is regularly inspected and certified.
    • Provide concise monthly Status reports for your assigned yachts to the Yacht Manager.
    • Undertake regular Technical Inspections on-board and ensure all items raised during inspections are clearly reported and followed up.
    • Ensure any costs related to Technical Management services have prior approval by the Yacht Manager.


    The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

    • Formal Education in Marine/Engineering/Naval studies to diploma or degree level.
    • 3+ Years shore side superintendent experience or similar role.
    • 10 + Years seagoing experience in an engineering capacity to at least merchant Class 2 Level or equivalent.
    • Previous experience of technical management of passenger vessels is essential, knowledge or experience of passenger yachts or large yachts would be beneficial.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels (dealing with Captains, Chief Engineers, Chief Officers, Owners Representatives and colleagues).
    • Effective at problem solving and multi-tasking.
    • Sound knowledge of Classification, Flag, ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, Passenger Yacht, Large Yacht Code, etc requirements.
    • Fluent in spoken and written English. Proficiency in other languages may be beneficial.
    • Ideally the candidate will already be living within commuting distance of London and be eligible to work in the UK.
    • Good sense of humour!
    • A self-starter capable of working independently but also collaborating as part of a busy multi-functional team.
    • Able to travel worldwide.

  • RETAIL CHARTER ASSISTANT, MIAMI

    Founded in 1975, Burgess is the superyacht industry leader renowned for its professional yachting services. The company guides clients through every aspect of the yachting experience, including charter, sale and purchase, and management. Reporting to the Retail Charter Brokers, you will assist them in their daily duties, helping to coordinate the logistics of client charters and be their main point of contact. This is primarily a sales support role.
     

    Responsibilities

    Client Presentations

    • Prepare electronic and hardcopy bound yacht presentations, as directed by Broker, for client enquiries.
    • Formulate client-friendly bespoke itineraries, as directed by Broker, for potential and booked charters using PowerPoint. 


    Data Entry

    • Maintain database with up to date client details including regular updating of general contact information, addresses and notes.
    • Record new enquiries and clients into the database
    • Ability to calculate commission rates, discounts and charter expenses accurately from data provided by broker and enter into our system 


    Charter Agreement & Document Preparation

    • Prepare charter agreements and all accompanying paperwork
    • Instruct Finance department on incoming and outgoing client funds and payments.
    • Create and manage both electronic and hard copy files with all information relating to booked charters. 


    Customer Service

    • Liaise with captains and crews with regards to the preparations needed prior to a charter commencing
    • Liaise with Central Agents, gathering general information on yacht availability and compile report for broker’s consideration
    • Coordinate pre and post charter client gifts
    • Handle phone calls from company and industry colleagues in broker’s absence 


    Administration

    • Manage broker’s calendar and stay on top of any due dates regarding the charter process
    • Make domestic and international travel arrangements for broker
    • Compile and organize broker’s monthly expenses for Finance Department 


    Business Development

    • Liaise with marketing department for targeted client initiatives
    • Complete digital and direct mailings
    • Regularly research and data mine for potential clients
    • Accompany and/or prepare broker for any client/industry presentations 


    General

    • Assist at company and Industry sponsored events or Boat Shows when appropriate
    • Any other task reasonably required.
