Every May, motorsports fans gather in the Principality to see what is unquestionably the most iconic race in the Formula 1 calendar.

Why attend the Monaco Grand Prix?

The Monaco Grand Prix is famous. Attracting some of the biggest names in racing since the first Formula 1 World Championship was held in the Principality in 1950, the historic race is F1’s jewel in the crown.

The event epitomises both the glamour and prestige of the Principality and the sport’s origins – racing in Monaco is a tie to an era gone by. While watching the drivers thread the magnificent F1 cars through the narrow streets may be spellbinding, the Monaco Grand Prix is about so much more than the racing alone. The entire long weekend is one of indulgence, excitement, and entertainment, with VIP parties and Michelin-star restaurants as standard.

One of the most demanding tracks on the circuit

The Monaco Grand Prix is the most demanding circuit on the Formula 1 calendar. Incredibly narrow, the nature of the track that winds through the Principality makes overtaking difficult, more so when racing around the streets at 200mph. Qualifying positions here are vital to a successful Monaco Grand Prix with drivers requiring millimetric accuracy skills to ensure a good track position to start the race.

The off-track atmosphere and events

The Principality comes alive on race weekend. You can expect VIP parties at some of Monaco’s most exclusive locations, starting ahead of the long weekend event. Monaco oozes glamour like no other destination in the world and caters in style, but the hottest ticket in town has to be the after party at Amber Lounge. Attracting celebrities and VIPs from far and wide, once the chequered flag has been waved, drivers, their teams and lucky guests come together as live acts and world-famous DJs take to the floor.

And then there are the restaurants, and Monaco is home to some of the finest in the world. Le Louis XV is the place to head for the finest haute cuisine to be found along the entire Côte d’Azur. Joel Robuchon’s eponymous restaurant is another firm favourite for the yachting crowd, while other hot spots include Le Grill, Cipriani, Nobu, Coya, Buddha Bar, Nikki Beach, and Maya. For those looking to escape the Monaco Grand Prix mania, Chevre d’Or sits perched on the hillside offering spectacular views over the sparkling Mediterranean coastline and yachts anchored below.
