Handsome, vast and spacious, CALYPSO is a 61.5m (202ft) tri-deck yacht with proven global voyaging ability, having cruised around the world from the tropics to the high latitudes. Built by Amels in The Netherlands and designed by Michael Leach, she is constructed in steel and was delivered in 2003. Her interior was completely refurbished in 2017; she was recently repainted and completed her 20-year survey.

Special features include a two-level master suite, a sundeck with a fully enclosed gym and an enormous amount of interior living space – 1149GT of internal volume is remarkable even for a yacht of this size. She is designed to host up to 18 guests in seven cabins with separate quarters for a crew of 15. The main guest spaces on all levels have separate crew entrances to ensure discreet service.

Her sundeck has three separate areas. There’s an expansive open-air lounge up forward with a jacuzzi and awnings for shade. An air-conditioned gym is amidships, enclosed with floor-to-ceiling glass. The open deck astern converts from a sunbathing area to an outdoor cinema. The upper aft deck is primarily devoted to dining with a grand oval table beneath the sundeck overhang and seating astern. The main deck aft is a large outdoor lounge.

Her inside living spaces are best described as palatial, with interior design inspired by Greek mythology. The main and upper deck saloons are impressively elegant, classically opulent and finished to an exceptional standard.

The vast two-level master suite spans the full 10.6-metre (35ft) beam of the yacht, with 4m (13ft) ceiling height, a big skylight and floor-to-ceiling windows. The suite includes an observation lounge and an office, plus his-and hers dressing rooms leading to separate, full-marble en suite bathrooms. There’s also a treatment room, which converts into a self-contained queen size double cabin.

The other five guest cabins are a VIP suite on the upper deck and four queen suites on the lower deck, each with an extra Pullman bed.

Powered by twin Caterpillar diesels with a combined 5,200hp, she cruises at 15 knots with a 4,000-mile maximum range. Her top speed is 18 knots. She carries her tenders on the foredeck and there is ample space in her stern garage for an extensive fleet of personal watercraft and watersports toys.
