About Peter

Peter is a Senior Sales Broker with a successful track record in large motor yacht sales across brokerage and new construction. He was made a Senior Partner in 2019 and balances his sales expertise with a focus on developing new business strategies across Burgess’ full service departments and mentoring junior brokers.

Previously a Captain in the British Army where he served in Cyprus, Kuwait and Northern Ireland, Peter enjoyed an eclectic career prior to yachting, including a salmon fishing guide in Iceland, working for a defence company in the Far East, and two years spent at Bloomberg Financial Markets.

'A career in the Army instils a set of values that are key to yachting; integrity, discipline and a good work ethic,' he says. 'It also teaches responsibility and communication skills that transcend cultures and geographical boundaries. It’s what the British Army refers to as "hearts and minds" and remains central to my role today.'

Peter joined the Burgess London office as a sales broker in 2002. Within a year he was tasked with increasing the company’s presence in the United States, which saw him relocate to Florida for three years, and later to New York where he spent seven years establishing the Burgess office. He moved back to London in 2012, and today heads up the Burgess New Build Sales Team alongside Rory Boyle, which comprises naval architects, marine engineers and commercial specialists.

As part of the New Build Sales Team, Peter is involved in the construction of semi-production yachts and full custom projects. Projects he has been involved in include 93m LADY S and 110m BRAVO EUGENIA.

'Clients are looking for specialist skills and knowledge on new build projects to help mitigate their risk,' he says. 'I form an extension of the owner’s team overseeing the commercial and contractual elements, and ensuring the yacht’s build quality and performance are delivered to brief and on budget.'

It’s Peter’s love of the sea and working across a mix of challenging projects that gives him genuine job satisfaction. 'My clients are all fascinating characters and I relish the challenge of adapting to their varying needs.'
