Gareth joined Burgess as a Technical Manager in 2024 following a varied career in the maritime industry, and he holds a Yacht Master Ocean and Y1 Engineering Certification. Studying business and marketing at university, Gareth also played rugby professionally before an unfortunate injury made him change his course.

Working at sea, Gareth became a deckhand and chase boat driver before moving to engineering. Over a period of almost 20 years, he worked as a single engineer on vessels from a 30m sail yacht to a chief engineer on a 90m motor yacht. After coming ashore, Gareth worked as an engineer at BAESystems on the Type 26 frigate programme before joining Burgess.

Away from work Gareth enjoys family time with his wife, daughter and two dogs. He also enjoys DIY, windsurfing, and golf.
