ALCANARA is for sale

Published 13 October 2023

The 29.1m (95.5ft) sailing yacht ALCANARA was delivered to her first owner, an Olympic yachtsman, in 2009 by Steve Ward & Co in Perth, Australia, to exterior designs by Dubois Naval Architecture and interiors by Rhoades Young studio, giving her outstanding pedigree. In 2022 ALCANARA underwent an extensive refit including new generators, a main engine overhaul, repaint and antifoul, deck recaulk, interior improvements, new sails and a full rig service. She is in turn-key condition and ready for a new owner.

Looking aft from the lower saloon

Her aluminium hull and superstructure are built to Lloyd's +100A1 class and she has been professionally operated and maintained since delivery. Additionally, the current owner fitted a fully moulded bowsprit extension in 2016, in order to fly the 300sqm gennaker.

Spacious decks and no shortage of shade

Her carbon fibre mast with in-boom furling is by Southern Spars, she has Reckmann furlers for her solent-rigged headsails and stainless-steel rod shrouds and Aramid forestay and backstay by Ocean Yacht Systems UK. Her sail wardrobe, built in carbon, is by North Sails superyacht loft. Electronics are by Raymarine, deck winches by Lewmar and she also has a Bauer Junior II dive compressor with three sets of scuba diving gear.

The large cockpit lounge can be fully enclosed

She has a family-friendly line-free cockpit lounge for dining and entertaining, shaded by a bimini and sheltered from the breeze by a transparent screen forward, that can be extended to fully enclose the space. There are two opposing U-shaped banks of seating around tables and the companionway is offset slightly to port. There is sun lounging space on the aft deck, where the transom folds down to create a swim platform with ladder, and more between the winches when the yacht is at anchor. The 445 Williams Jet tender stows on the foredeck on passage.

Dining in the raised saloon, opposite seating and the nav station with the main saloon down the steps forward

Below she has a raised saloon with panoramic views through large picture windows. There is a formal dining area to port and seating to starboard, aft of the nav station.

The main saloon has natural light from the raised saloon and hull ports either side

Steps lead down to a spacious second saloon with a TV lounge to port and seating to starboard, both with views through large hull ports.

A full beam owner's suite aft includes a marble bathroom, see here to the left

She welcomes six guests in three cabins. The owner's suite is aft and full beam and has seating to port, aft of the marble bathroom with shower, a vanity table and plenty of storage. There is also a twin cabin to port and a double cabin to starboard, both en suite and with a pipe cot additional berth. She also accommodates up to four crew.

Her draft and powerful masthead rig give her performance without sacrificing comfort

A draft of 3.8m (12.5ft) gives her excellent performance under sail. Under power her 318hp Scania diesel engine gives her a top speed of 12 knots and a maximum range under power of 2,300nm at 10.5 knots.
