In just a few weeks, many of the finest yachts in the world will be finishing their summer cruising in September. At the same time, the industry is preparing for a busy autumn sales season, and the Burgess team are raring to go, with yacht shows on both sides of the Atlantic. From Cannes to Monaco to Fort Lauderdale, the Fall yacht shows are a must-attend event for anyone interested in buying or chartering a superyacht. Here, we take you on a guided tour around the 33rd Monaco Yacht Show –  the premier superyacht show for the largest and most exclusive of the fleet, taking place from 25–28 September 2024.

All about the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS)

Held annually in Port Hercules in the iconic Principality of Monaco, the Monaco Yacht Show stands head and shoulders above other yacht shows both in terms of the size of yachts visible and glamour and client appeal. Key facts about the 33rd Monaco Yacht Show

Bringing together the most anticipated collection of superyachts of the year, the Monaco Yacht Show 2024 expects to welcome more than 560 exhibitors and over 35,000 visitors over the course of just four days. With almost 40,000 people coming into the tiny Principality you might expect things to get a little crowded, but the organisers have used their years of experience to ensure that the quayside and exhibition spaces are welcoming and easy to navigate, with priority access to qualified buyers and charterers. Here we take a look at the key facts to help you plan your 33rd Monaco Yacht Show.

2024 Monaco Yacht Show dates and opening hours

Where is the Monaco Yacht Show held?

It might be the second smallest country in the world, but there is more to Monaco than meets the eye. Located at the heart of the Principality, the idyllic waterfront setting of Port Hercules is the venue for the Monaco Yacht Show. Home to 700 of the most sought-after berths in the world, the port can accommodate yachts of up to 135-metres in length and is therefore ideal for an in-water display of some of the world’s largest yachts.

How to buy tickets for the Monaco Yacht Show

If you are interested in attending this year’s Monaco Yacht Show then there are a number of ticket options available. Burgess can organise Sapphire Experience passes that allow access to the show from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 28 September, while 1-day, 2-day and 3-day passes for Thursday 26 September through to Saturday 28 September can also be purchased through the show organisers. Access to the yachts on display is at the discretion of the owner and their management and can only be organised through your Burgess broker. To optimise your time at the show, appointments are usually made and planned in advance by your broker, so it’s usually a good idea to discuss what you want to see.

What should I wear to the Monaco Yacht Show?

There is no official dress code for those attending the Monaco Yacht Show, but keep in mind that while September sees the temperatures drop from the soaring peak-summer highs, the average daily temperature is still in the mid 20s centigrade. Lightweight summer clothing is therefore advisable, along with comfortable slip-on shoes and sunglasses or a hat. In the evening a sweater or jacket is also a good idea.

2024 Monaco Yacht Show exhibition areas

The Monaco Yacht Show is divided into two main areas – on the water and quayside. But, with over 30,000 visitors attending each year, the docks can get busy. The best way to ensure you make the most of the show is to discuss your requirements with your Burgess broker or expert prior to the show so that they can plan your schedule and ensure VIP access to the yachts. They can also pre-arrange any shipyard meetings, water toy trials, or designer consultations that you might be interested in. Basically, the better planned your visit, the more you will get from it.

Adventure Area

Now in its third year, the Adventure Area exhibition area is dedicated to yacht exploration and leisure activities. Split across two areas – on the quayside at Quai Antoine 1er and in the water at Quai Jarlan – visitors can test a range of tenders and water toys, including submarines, and view the latest off-road and luxury vehicles, helicopters and high-tech gadgets, all designed to accessorise the yachting experience to the next level. Experts are also on hand to discuss the opportunities for clients looking to explore further afield, while those interested in taking part in scientific research or specialist programs can find all the information they need in the Adventure Area.

Dockside Area

The Dockside Area is dedicated to the display of superyachts and tenders in the water, with exhibition spaces alongside. This is where Burgess have the largest display of yachts for sale and charter, including a number of yachts making their debuts on the market. Burgess have confirmed four listings to date, including three motor yachts. Those on display in the Dockside Area are the 77.8m (255.2ft) ENERGY from the Amels shipyard; the 60m (196.9ft) CAIPIRINHA from Lürssen; and the brand new 34.9m (114.3ft) FOX from Pendennis. The list is regularly evolving and changes right up until the day before – so to keep abreast of further announcements on additional yachts attending the show with Burgess, contact your Burgess representatives for updates.

Sailing Yacht Area

Quai l’Hirondelle is a dedicated exhibition area for sailing yachts. Displayed within the dockside area close to the Yacht Club, the leading sailing yacht shipyards have displays of their new launches, while the sailing yachts exhibited by the brokerage houses can also be found here. To date, Burgess have confirmed the 32.6m (106.9ft) RIBELLE in this location, alongside three brand new launches from Wally, Nautor Swan and Yyachts making their debut. The nearest entrance to this area of the show is Quai Chicane, while those coming by tender can access the yachts from the Quai l’Hirondelle pontoon.

Sustainability Hub

Like Burgess, the Monaco Yacht Show is committed to the environment and have been acting with a responsible approach since 2005. Partnering with environmental foundations, the Monaco Yacht Show have since introduced a dedicated Sustainability Hub. Set up in 2022, the area brings together sustainable solutions and eco-responsible projects that all meet with the strict criteria defined by the Water Revolution Foundation. Here, visitors can explore the ways in which these key industry players are contributing to a more responsible yachting, and also attend seminars and events on the subject of sustainability.

Upper Deck Lounge

The Upper Deck Lounge is where visitors will find leading craftsmanship and luxury service providers, including private aviation, interior designers and yachting furniture and textile suppliers. The luxurious and cool space is also home to the MYS Bar-lounge, the Restaurant by Fairmont Monte-Carlo, and the Sapphire Lounge for those with VIP access.

What else can I do whilst attending the Monaco Yacht Show?

Whether you are flying in to visit Burgess at the Monaco Yacht Show or planning a long weekend, Monaco has plenty to keep all ages entertained. From designer boutiques, museums and gardens to some of the finest dining in the world, the tiny Principality packs a lot into its tiny 0.8 square miles.

Visit the Musée Océanographique de Monaco

Sitting on the edge of a cliff, the Musée Océanographique de Monaco is one of the Principality’s most popular attractions. With an impressive shark lagoon and more than 90 tanks containing both Mediterranean and tropical marine life, all sustained by freshly pumped and filtered sea water, the aquarium is a must-visit while in Monaco.

Explore the Monaco Top Cars Collection

As a passionate car enthusiast, Prince Rainier III of Monaco had a wide collection of vehicles, all of which were meticulously maintained throughout his ownership. The impressive curation of some of the most impressive cars in the world are on display at the Exhibition of HSH The Prince of Monaco’s Vintage Car Collection, known as Monaco Top Cars.

Visit the Palais Princier de Monaco

Take the opportunity to visit the Palais Princier de Monaco (Prince’s Palace), the official private residence of the Prince of Monaco. The Palace is open for state apartment tours from April through to October, while outside of these months visitors can watch the blue-helmeted Carabiniers du Prince in the traditional Changing of the Guard ceremony each morning at 11:55.

Visit the Casino de Monte Carlo

The Belle Époque building of the iconic Casino de Monte Carlo is well worth a visit, even if you don’t want to have a flutter. Built in 1893, the famed casino has welcomed more than its fair share of international stars and influential world leaders over the years. Walk up the grand staircase, sip a dry martini at the Salle Blanche, and picture some of the casino’s more bacchanalian days in your mind’s eye.

Visit the Cathédrale de Monaco

Monaco’s 1875 Romanesque-Byzantine cathedral, formerly known as the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas and now called the Cathedral of Our Immaculate Lady, is where many of the Grimaldi Royal members are interred. As the final resting place for Prince Rainier III and Princess Grace of Monaco (formerly film star Grace Kelly), the historic landmark has become a major attraction for visitors to Monaco. Their flower-adorned graves are located inside the cathedral choir of the building, while a magnificent high altar and the Episcopal throne is at the centre.
