The 42m (137.8ft) L’AQUILA is a cutter-rigged sailing yacht built by Mengi Yay in 2021. She has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure and a gross tonnage of 293GT. She has a raised flybridge, a large main deck saloon and a full-beam owner's suite. Her hull and exterior design are by Ginton BV. She was built to RINA Commercial C+Hull Mach Ych, (Sail) Short range Navigation certification.
L’AQUILA has a large flush foredeck, with sunpad seating forward of the mast. This area can be shaded when L’AQUILA is at anchor. Moving aft along high-bulwarked side decks one arrives at the shaded guest cockpit. Here, one finds an al fresco formal dining area with forward-facing U-shaped bench seating to the rear. Steps to starboard lead up to the L’AQUILA’s flybridge. There is a central forward helm position, with an al fresco lounge area behind. To the rear, beneath the mainsheet arch, is a wet bar area with bar-stool seating. L’AQUILA has a large rear swim platform accessed via stairs on both sides of the cockpit.
L’AQUILA can accommodate 10 guests in five cabins. All the accommodation is on the lower deck, it consists of a full-beam owner's suite, two double VIP suites and two twin/double convertible cabins. The owner's suite is to the rear of the yacht and features a walk-in wardrobe and an en suite bathroom with his and hers sinks and a large separate shower compartment. Forward of the engine room, there are two en suite double VIP cabins with inboard-facing berths. Ahead of these, are two twin/convertible en suite cabins. Forward of the guest accommodation is the galley, crew mess and accommodation. On the main deck, doors to the rear and on both sides give access to the saloon. Here, one finds the helm position forward and to starboard. Moving aft, there is a formal dining area and stairs to the lower deck guest accommodation. To the rear of the saloon, there is a day head and the lounge area that has sofa seating and a coffee table.
L’AQUILA is powered by two 911 hp Yanmar engines these give her a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots. She has a cruising range under power of 2,850nm at 10 knots.
