SARASTAR is a remarkable achievement. In a 60.2m (197.5ft) package of 979GT, Mondomarine has delivered a Lloyd’s-classed aluminium yacht that is capable of 21 knots but also has transatlantic range. Including her owner’s suite, which has folding balconies either side, SARASTAR welcomes 12 guests in six cabins as well as 13 crew, she has a touch-and-go helipad, zero speed stabilisers, beach club and a sun deck gym.
Behind those dynamic, sweeping Luca Dini exteriors, a distinctive combination of a gloss-black hull and metallic silver superstructure, lies an interior of contemporary opulence. It is one that reflects the natural beauty of marbles and agates, leathers and fabrics, in mirrors, glass and stainless steel. Huge windows and deck skylights throughout celebrate how these surfaces interact with natural light.
Her sun deck has a feature J-shaped sit-up bar in green agate and club seating. Behind sliding glass doors and beneath the hardtop there is a selection of gym equipment and aft is a sun lounging area and the yacht’s signature cactus garden. Skylights brighten the upper deck aft beneath the overhang where there is open-air dining and more skylights brighten the lounge seating on the main deck aft.
From the main deck aft internal steps lead down to the beach club and swim platform. Walkaround sidedecks lead forward to steps up to the foredeck where there are huge sunpads and a lounge that serves for casual open-air dining, as well as the touch-and-go helipad.
This yacht’s focus on lavish entertainment sees two formal dining areas, on main and upper decks, both with sumptuous lounges to which guests can withdraw. Huge picture windows on the main deck connect guests with their environment whereas the upper deck sky lounge is a more secluded, private space.
All of the guest suites are individually styled with fine fabrics lining the walls and ceiling and marble floors. The full-beam owner’s suite is forward on the main deck and features teak-decked terraces and fold-down balconies either side. The lower deck is home to five suites, four double cabins and one twin cabin. The accommodation is very suitable to family use or commercial operation, as she is also charter compliant.
Twin 3,860hp MTU diesel engines give her a rapid top speed of 21 knots, a cruising speed of 15.5 knots and a range of 4,100nm at her passage speed of 12 knots. Her two 7.2m Colombo tenders stow in a lower deck garage forward of the beach club, launching through a starboard shell door. Zero speed stabilisers ensure comfort at anchor.
