Built in 1943 by Montreal shipyard Canadian Vickers as HMCS Stormont, she served during WWII. Sold as surplus after the war, she was bought in 1948 for USD 34,000 by Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis and converted into the most famous superyacht afloat.
Her unmistakable lines are the work of legendary German architect Caesar Pinnau, who was commissioned to rebuild the humble naval vessel for USD 4,000,000. In 1954, a 99.1m (325.1ft) legend was born. Last refitted in 2001, she is back at her best.
Get the best views from the uppermost compass deck as you relax on sculpted sunloungers. Curved steps lead down to the promenade deck aft. Pick up a cocktail from the bar then take a dip in the jacuzzi, lie back and watch the world go by or stroll around the sidedecks.
Steps lead down to the main deck aft with dining for 16 guests at a table with Ulysses themed marquetry inlays by Melinda Patten. Cafe tables and chairs surround the focus of this deck, a beautiful mosaic lined and bronze edged pool, the bottom of which rises to create a dancefloor for party evenings.
Inside on the main deck you can pick up a classic cocktail at the most famous bar afloat, Ari's, reputed to be built from the wreckage of a Spanish galleon and where JFK and Churchill first met in 1957. A few steps aft guests can live the lounge life with the self-playing piano in the Lapis Lounge, named after the fireplace's surround. After dinner for up to 42 guests, softly entertained by another Steinway, adjourn to the Callas Lounge with Steinway on stage, another incredible entertainment space.
King of the suites is the Onassis with its Sienna marble fireplace below the original Renoir in the private lounge. Other suites are named after exotic Greek islands and in total she welcomes up to 34 guests in 17 exquisite cabins. Two massage rooms, a beauty salon, both with therapists, elevator from main to bridge decks and a hydraulic swim platform where you can arrive in one of two immaculate Hacker Craft, there simply isn't another yacht like her.
For a charter with real star quality, unmistakable style and genuine history, there is only one yacht to charter.
