Burgess 50: 2025 wrapped
2025 wrapped
Published 18 十二月 2025
As our 50th anniversary year draws to a close, 2025 proved to be far more than a milestone moment for Burgess. It was a year that captured the direction of travel for the entire superyacht industry: bigger, more considered, increasingly purposeful, and shaped by clients who expect more from their time on the water.
Against a backdrop of evolving market dynamics, technological progress, and growing environmental responsibility, Burgess continued to lead from the front – advising, innovating and delivering at the very highest level.
Key shifts in the superyacht market
2025 marked a golden year for construction, with an unprecedented 10 yachts over 100m scheduled for delivery. Among them were headline-making projects such as the 134.2m DEEP BLUE and the 114m PROJECT COSMOS, underscoring the continued appetite for truly large, highly complex yachts.
The brokerage market told a similarly compelling story. While overall transaction numbers decreased slightly, total gross tonnage sold increased, pointing to a clear trend of buyers acquiring larger pre-owned yachts. Demand at the top end of the market remained robust, with well-specified, pedigree yachts continuing to change hands decisively.
Sustainability also moved from aspiration to action. Hybrid propulsion systems and fuel-flex technologies dominated conversations throughout the year, with PROJECT COSMOS setting a new benchmark as the first superyacht to feature methanol fuel-cell technology. The result is a vessel capable of operating emission-free at anchor or during slow cruising – a glimpse into the future of responsible yachting.
Major sales in 2025
Burgess played a central role in some of the year’s most significant transactions. Highlights included the sale of the 60.1m (197.1ft) Amels STELLA MI, originally sold by Burgess as a new build in 2019 and delivered in 2021, as well as the 78.4m (257.2ft) Abeking & Rasmussen AMARYLLIS. We also successfully concluded the confidential sale of two 90m+ yachts, reinforcing our strength at the very top of the market.
On the buyer’s side we were equally active, advising clients on the acquisition of extraordinary yachts worldwide. Standout transactions included the off-market sale of the 80.1m (262.7ft) custom Damen support yacht U-81, and the purchase of the brand-new 75.8m (248.7ft) Feadship ONE. Together, these deals reflect the depth of trust clients place in Burgess to navigate both sides of the brokerage equation.

Significant deliveries
The new build and delivery landscape in 2025 was defined by quality, pedigree, and precision. In April, the 44.3m (145.2ft) sailing yacht MAGIC was delivered by the world-renowned Vitters Shipyard, offering a rare opportunity for a discerning owner to step straight aboard a brand-new Dutch fast cruising sloop.
But of all the months, August proved particularly successful for the Burgess New Build team, with three major deliveries completed in the span of a few weeks. The first was FORTITUDE 1, a Benetti introduced by Burgess just 15 months from delivery, sold in-house, and expertly managed by our local new build team throughout construction. She was followed by XWAVE, a fully custom Benetti B.Now 50 developed entirely around her owner’s vision. The B.Now series continues to resonate strongly with today’s modern yacht buyers, blending volume, flexibility and contemporary design.
Completing the trio was the delivery of the Feadship STELLA M. Originally started on-spec in 2022, she was sold by Burgess just six weeks after entering the market in July 2023 and successfully delivered in August 2025. Excitingly, both FORTITUDE1 and XWAVE are now available for charter exclusively through Burgess.
Destinations that defined 2025
We’ve crunched the numbers, and here’s where our charter clients booked the most in 2025:
For those planning a 2026 charter in these high-demand regions, the advice is simple: book early. The best yachts, prime dates, and most attractive rates are secured well in advance. Equally, destinations such as Asia and French Polynesia saw lower booking volumes in 2025, presenting an enticing opportunity for adventurous charterers seeking something less travelled in the year ahead.
Burgess Blue Oceans
In 2025, Burgess continued to demonstrate that our impact extends far beyond sales and charter. This year, we helped raise more funds than ever before for ocean conservation and regeneration.
Our ongoing support of Blue Marine Foundation’s work on the Greek island of Amorgos reached a major milestone this year. As part of the AMORGORAMA initiative, seagrass mapping and collaboration with local fishers contributed to the passing of a Presidential Decree establishing Fisheries Restricted Areas around the island. These measures introduce year-round fishing bans in designated zones and seasonal protections during peak spawning periods, setting a powerful precedent for marine protection across Greece and the wider Mediterranean.
In July, we also formalised our partnership with Water Revolution Foundation, the superyacht industry’s leading platform for collective action on ocean stewardship. Together, we are working to reduce environmental impact and champion more sustainable business practices across the sector.
On the water, SCINTILLA MARIS embarked on a Yachts for Science mission in Iceland, supporting research into polar biodiversity and helping to close critical knowledge gaps that inform future conservation strategies. From polar waters to coral reefs, Yachts for Science continues to offer yacht owners the opportunity to turn their vessels into platforms for positive change.
Finally, our Caribbean Crew Scholarship went from strength to strength. Building on its successful launch in 2024, the programme has already helped young Caribbean nationals gain valuable experience and employment across the superyacht industry, with our latest candidates now following in the footsteps of our first scholars.
What to expect in 2026
As the industry enters 2026, superyachts are evolving into intelligent, boundless platforms that anticipate owner needs while addressing the dual challenges of luxury and decarbonisation with growing confidence. The future points towards yachts that are not only beautiful expressions of individuality, but purposeful vessels designed for exploration, connection, and impact.
