Charter Retail Broker, London

Our Charter Department has a vacancy for a Retail Broker based out of our London Office.

We are looking for an experienced Broker who will be an integral part of the Burgess team and deliver the high standard of service that is synonymous with the Burgess brand. The candidate will be in a position to build an extensive client base and be able to communicate at the highest, most professional level. The position will be based in our Central London Office. The role will require the successful candidate to travel.

  • Charter Retail Broker, USA

    We are currently recruiting a self-motivated retail broker for our Charter division based in the USA.

    The broker will serve as an integral part of the Burgess team and deliver the high standards synonymous with the Burgess brand. The position is based in our Miami office however the role will involve extensive travel both nationally and internationally.

  • Junior Graphic Designer, London

    The position of Junior Graphic Designer is an important role in a very busy marketing department, which consists of eight other full-time employees. A minimum of 1 year experience is required.

    The role is to support the marketing team in producing a broad range of digital and printed marketing materials, working on projects from start to finish, as well as working with third party agencies as appropriate. The role would be suited to a junior graphic designer looking to gain experience of working in a luxury market where attention to detail is paramount.

    You will have good Mac skills, HTML experience and be familiar with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Basic knowledge of print processes would also be an advantage.

    Main job responsibilities will include the following:

    Print

  • Produce print ready artwork on a range of marketing collateral including but not limited to: brochures, flyers, presentations, exhibition signage, branding for merchandise, stationery items and advertisements. This may involve implementing new designs or using existing templates and/or designing new templates.
  • Manage content, image selection and proofing

    Digital

  • Design digital brochures, flyers and presentations
  • Design basic digital assets such as email headers and footers, web pages and banners, templates in Word and PowerPoint
  • Manage and manipulate logos and imagery for website, HTML email templates and social media uses
  • Create page turner documents

    Other

  • Manage the image and artwork database

  • Head of Finance, Yacht Management

    Burgess is recruiting an experienced Accounts team leader with appropriate experience to assist in the management of multiple client relationships and to manage and further develop our Yacht Management Accounts Team. The focus will be on developing and implementing effective procedures controls and best practices to deliver outstanding service to clients. Knowledge of the yachting industry would be an advantage.

    Job responsibilities include:

    Working with the Yacht Managers you will be responsible for the Yacht Accounting functions and for the management of the Yacht Accounting Team, including:


  • the performance, conduct, efficiency, motivation and development of the Team to ensure the efficient supply of information to clients
  • proper and effective use of systems, procedures (including financial integrity and controls) and reporting templates, contributing to their improvement and developing and implementing enhancements
  • ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of monthly management Account reports for all managed yachts to include:

    • review and analysis of monthly financials, with attention to detail for accurate and consistent reporting to clients
    • preparing and authorising payments via bank transfer
    • preparation and presentation of funding requests to clients
    • preparation and review of budgets and updating as necessary, with ongoing variance analysis and comparison to actual
    • analysis of yacht refit budgets vs. actual (project management)
    • knowledge of payroll and tax implications of vessel Flag and location
    • to provide input to proposals for new Accounting business
    • leading the Yacht Accounts Team and as line manager, being the initial focal point for employment or HR-related issues
    • acting as the primary point of contact for all yacht accounts related questions and liaising with yacht managers, clients, Captains and crew
    • cross selling of all Burgess services
    • representing Yacht Finance at internal meetings and Burgess externally when required to do so

    Background and experience

    The successful candidate must have a tactful, diplomatic and determined leadership style and be a persuasive and confident decision maker. They must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise confidently and professionally with colleagues, high net worth clients, Yacht Captains & crew. Experience in a similar multi-client role would be ideal.


    Essential skills and requirements

    The successful candidate will have exceptional numerical competence and analytical abilities, along with the following:
  • a proven track record of leadership, delivery and experience in a similar field
  • good commercial awareness with a strong focus on client service and the ability to manage multiple client relationships
  • knowledge of SUN, Sage or similar accounting packages
  • proficiency in Word, Excel and CRM systems, ideally all at an intermediate/ higher level
  • excellent negotiation and influencing skills


    Desirable skills and requirements

    Accounting qualifications are preferred, although a proven track record of delivery and experience will be considered for the right applicant.

    Reporting to: Director of Yacht Management

  • Yacht Manager, Miami

    We are currently recruiting a Yacht Manager for our Yacht Management division based out of our Miami office. Reporting to the Management Department Director you will take responsibility for your fleet of vessels as the primary point of contact. You will work closely with the specialists in the management team who will support you in the functions which require their area of expertise. and will help you achieve the following:-

    Duties

  • Provide the principal point of contact for the vessel Crew/Owner
  • Operational Management of a fleet of vessels
  • Technical Management with the support of the Technical Management team
  • Crew Management with the support of the Crew Manager
  • Certification (Statutory and Class) and Insurance (working closely with Burgess Yachts Financial Services)
  • Accounts and Finance (review invoices, submit fund requests to Owners etc.) with the support of the Accounts team
  • Safety Management/ISM with the support of the Safety & Security Manager
  • Security Management/ISPS with the support of the Safety & Security Manager
  • Participation in the Emergency Response Team if required
  • Prepare Monthly Management Reports
  • Assisting to obtain new management business and cross-selling all Burgess services
  • Any other task reasonably requested
  • The successful candidate will have the following attributes:--

  • Sea-going experience in a senior position with the appropriate qualification for this position;
  • Previous yacht management experience will be beneficial;
  • Excellent communication and diplomacy skills, able to communicate effectively at all levels (dealing with Owners, Captains and colleagues);
  • Effective problem solving and multi-tasking abilities;
  • Sound knowledge of ISM/ISPS, SOLAS, MLC & STCW. Previous auditing experience will be beneficial;
  • Technical knowledge of large yachts and their operation
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Proficiency in other languages will be beneficial;
  • Live within commuting distance of Miami and be eligible to work in the USA;
  • Good sense of humour.

    Deckhand - 75m Motor Yacht

    We require an experienced deckhand for a 75m charter MY currently based in the Indian Ocean.

    The suitable candidate must have at least three seasons experience, be an excellent tender driver, have a strong water sports background and hold up to date STCW, ENG1, Proficiency in Designated Security Duties and Powerboat Level 2 certificates. A Yachtmaster or Yacht/Deck Rating are also desirable.
