2025 was a big year for us at Burgess. Marking our 50th anniversary, we deepened our commitment to sustainability with a strategy that connects ocean health, social wellbeing, and long-term business resilience.
In an industry that depends on the health of the ocean and the strength of its people, and with the global ocean economy expected to double by 2030, the need for change is urgent. As true as it was when we launched our Blue Oceans journey in 2018, we remain committed to responsible action, working to continue to better understand our impact, embed sustainable practices into our operations, and foster open, honest dialogue across the industry. This report is a reflection of that ongoing journey.
2025 highlights:
- A strengthened Blue Marine Foundation partnership, with client engagement helping to drive and achieve fundamental conservation outcomes at national policy level
- A new partnership with Water Revolution Foundation, and the pioneering creation of LYBRA's sustainability committee, aiming to reshape sustainable operations within the yachting industry
- The growth of Caribbean Crew and UKSA cadet initiatives: from tentative beginnings to transatlantic programmes opening doors for young people in yachting
We are proud of what our Burgess community has achieved and to reflect on how far we’ve come since 1975. And we are excited about challenging ourselves to go around the buoy again in 2026, to do more and to do it better.
