In 2024, we deepened our commitment to a sustainability strategy fit for the future, rooted in our long-standing belief that our role in the industry should be a force for good. For us, sustainability goes beyond the environment – it includes social, economic, and governance factors that shape how we plan and operate.

Since launching our Blue Oceans journey in 2018, we’ve worked to better understand our impact, embed sustainable practices into our operations, and foster open, honest dialogue across the industry. This report is a reflection of that ongoing journey.

And with the global ocean economy expected to double by 2030, the need for change is urgent. As a business, we remain committed to responsible action. As individuals, our love of the sea drives our duty to protect it – for today and for the future.

Collectively the Burgess community has:

• Raised GBP 90,889 (approx. USD 115,555/EUR 110,000) for ocean conservation, up 60% on 2024

• Sent over GBP 75,000 (approx. USD 95,213/EUR 90,812) to the charities they support, up 29% on last year

• Impacted 30 organisations/projects (25% increase on 2023)
• Taken part in 23 charity volunteer days
• Awarded 2 Caribbean Crew Scholarships

We are proud of what our Burgess community has achieved and to reflect on how far we’ve come since 1975. And we are excited about challenging ourselves to go around the buoy again in 2025,  to do more and to do it better.

As we move into our 50th year, we hope that this is the kind of company that Nigel Burgess would be proud of.
