Richard is a marine electrical engineer in the Burgess Technical Services team, with over 20 years’ experience in the design, installation and operation of industrial and marine electrical systems. He joined Burgess in 2011 after five years overseeing the electrical systems of major construction projects for the international engineering consultancy Arup. Prior to this he worked as Chief Engineer on several prestigious private yachts during build, refit and operational periods. Richard’s career began as an electrician and he spent three years as an engineer on a private superyacht before completing a BEng Hons in Electrical Engineering at the University of Brighton. After graduating he joined electrical engineering manufacturer Alstom, completing his professional training and working on electrical systems for ship propulsion and rail applications. Richard is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
