Split is a great place to start your yacht charter, giving you an introduction to the history and culture of Croatia with islands close by for short sailing times. Wander the historic streets and stop by Diocletian’s Palace – regarded as one of the world’s best-preserved ancient palaces.

Leaving Split, you have an amazing route ahead of you. The first stop is Milna on Brač Island, a small authentic harbour town with old stone buildings and street musicians, before a short trip to the stunning beach Zlatni Rat. Next is Hvar, a popular tourist spot in peak summer season dubbed the Saint-Tropez of the Adriatic, which you can enjoy with fewer crowds. And finally, Dubrovnik. This iconic city offers impressive medieval walls, limestone streets and artisan specialities – from hand-crafted ceramics to award-winning olive oil – for a perfect souvenir to remember your yacht charter by.

Combining ancient Roman heritage with excellent marina facilities, Split is the ideal departure point for a food and culture tour of Croatia. After visiting Diocletian’s Palace and exploring the cobblestone streets, return to your yacht for sunbathing, a massage or time relaxing on deck while your captain sets a course for Trogir. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Trogir is celebrated for its well-preserved Romanesque-Gothic architecture and palm-lined waterfront. Long lunches here spotlight local produce, while the historic Kamerlengo Fortress offers some of the best views over the town and the mountains beyond.

Leaving Trogir, your next stop is Šibenik. It’s here, where the Krka River meets the sea, that you can feast on local Dalmatian delicacies – think peka or black risotto and regional wine – either created by your on board chef or at Michelin-starred restaurants and local tavernas ashore, explore the UNESCO-listed Cathedral of St James, and tour the network of restored Venetian fortresses.

For an in-depth insight into the local wine scene, visit Primošten’s Bucavac vineyard, a remarkable landscape of hand-built dry-stone terraces where the prized Babić grape is cultivated entirely by hand. Continue your Croatian wine tasting adventure anchoring in Korčula old town for easy access to local vineyard tours where you can sample crisp native white wines like Pošip and Grk. Protected bays offer excellent overnight anchoring before you turn to your final stop on your charter: Ston.

Known for three things – its preserved town walls, saltworks, and mussels – Ston is a great final stop offering a slower pace. Anchor in the Bay of Mali Ston, famous for its centuries-old oyster and mussel farming, to sample fresh shellfish straight from the sea, or conclude your charter ashore walking the five-kilometre length of the town walls.
