Explore the Galapagos

Charles Darwin Research Station
The Charles Darwin Research Station’s mission is to preserve the diversity of the Galápagos Islands through continuous conservation research and practices, involving over a hundred educators, research assistants, and volunteers. The site also showcases magnificent giant tortoises, which you’ll find wandering about freely.
map pinSanta Cruz
Buccaneer Cove
On Santiago Island's north west coast, Buccaneer Cove is famous for being a prefrerred anchorage for sailors, pirates and buccaneers to careen their ships, search for fresh water inland and catch giant tortoises for food.
map pinSantiago
Cormorant Point
Cormorant Point on the northern tip of Floreana Island, offers two contrasting beaches: the first is a green sand beach, made green by the presence of olivine crystal, and the second is Flour Beach, made of fine, pulverized coral. The main highlight at this site is the flamingo lagoon and others species such as shorebirds, finch, stilts or large-billed flycatchers.
map pinFloreana
Egas Port
Egas Port on Santiago Island's west coast has beautiful black sand beaches, and this is one of the most volcanically active islands in the archipelago. Hike up to the smallest of the three craters to see Minas de Sal.
map pinSantiago
El Chato Ranch
El Chato is part of a National Park and a tortoise reserve where you can discover giant tortoises in the wild.
map pinSanta Cruz
Elizabeth Bay
Located at the 'ankle' of Isabela Island's 'leg' and formed by the union of two volcanoes, Elizabeth Bay is home to many wild species. Due to the cool water, it's a habitat for penguins. You'll also find the biggest specimens of marine iguanas thanks to the abundant supply of algae and sea turtles that come here for resting and feeding. It's perfect for kayaking.
map pinIsabela
Finch Bay Restaurant
Between Puerto Ayora and Las Grietas on Santa Cruz, this resort restaurant celebrates the bounty of the seas paired with endemic produce from its own kitchen garden. Expect international Ecuadorian dishes, and don't miss the ceviche.
map pin Santa Cruz
FraFre GastroBar
The Galápagos' top-ranked restaurant is on the outskirts of Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz, but the fish makes it well worth the walk. Great vegetarian options too.
map pinSanta Cruz
Lobos Island
Lobos Island, off the northwest coast of San Cristóbal, gets its name from the large colonies of sea lions ('Lobos Marinos' in Spanish) that practically fill the entire area. It’s also home to various Galápagos birds such as blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, and frigatebirds.
map pinSan Cristóbal
Muyu Galapagos
This establishment on the waterfront in San Cristóbal's Puerto Baquerizo Moreno is voted one of the 50 best in Latin America. Advocates of the farm, forest, and sea-to-plate philosophy, they serve up beautifully presented modern Ecuadorian cuisine. Book for sunset.
map pinSan Cristóbal
Playa Dorada
Bartolomé is one of the most visited and most-photographed islands in Galapagos. The Galapagos penguins, the second smallest penguin species in the world, have established a small breeding colony in a cave behind Pinnacle Rock at the western end of Playa Dorada. Birdwatchers should be on the lookout for Galapagos penguins, herons, and Galapagos hawks.
map pinBartolomé
Puerto Ayora
Santa Cruz Island, a large dormant volcano, is the second largest island of the archipelago. Puerto Ayora is the most populated urban centre on the island, with a quaint and charming atmosphere.
map pinSanta Cruz
Punta Espinosato
Off Isabela Island's west coast, Fernandina Island, the youngest of the Galápagos islands, is considered one of the best sites for both marine and terrestrial species. Stop at Punta Espinosa to see hundreds of marine iguanas, sea lions, pelicans, Galápagos hawks, and finches – several species rarely found anywhere else.
map pinFernandina
Tagus Cove
Tagus Cove is a scenic area where you can see several volcanoes and historical graffiti written on the surrounding cliffs of the cove by pirates, whalers, and buccaneers in past centuries.
map pinIsabela
The Interpretation Center
On San Cristóbal Island, you can learn about the Galápagos' rich natural history, including the islands' volcanic origin, ocean currents, climate, and how different species arrived and evolved. Afterwards, hike up Tijeretas Hill through beautiful landscapes and a frigatebird nesting colony to the statue of Charles Darwin overlooking Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.
map pinSan Cristóbal
Tintorenas (Wall of Tears)
The Wall of Tears is one of the most important historic sites in the Galápagos, constructed by prisoners between 1945 and 1959 in the penal colony on Isabela Island.
