Norway

This summer choose cool, calm and collected with a charter in the Norwegian fjords

Over 10,000 years ago, great valleys were carved out of the rugged Norwegian coastline as millions of tonnes of snow and ice melted with the demise of the Ice Age. What it left behind was a beguiling display of sea waterways bordered on three sides by soaring snow-capped mountains and lush green rolling hills. Each fjord starts at the North Sea and burrows inland until it culminates at a U-shape in one of Western Norway’s picturesque hill-side villages.

Discovering the fjords by yacht is a spiritual experience, sure to last a lifetime. Cruise between primordial forests, cascading waterfalls, gigantic glaciers and dramatic peaks until you wash up in a quaint Norse village or colourful coastal town.

The village of Olden, known as the gateway to the glaciers o ers exploration at its finest – take a hike to the million-year-old Briksdal Glacier. Bergen, the pastel-hued seafront city has been nicknamed the city of seven mountains, and Flam is for chatting with Vikings as they serve local beers from distilleries tucked into the hillside overlooking the fjord below.

Croatia

It’s the terracotta roofs sitting atop white-washed houses, or the deep blues of the Adriatic that make Croatia just so irresistible

Each summer, this eastern European country, traditionally outshone by its neighbour, Italy, comes into its own. As the mercury soars to a balmy 30+ degrees, so does Croatia’s appeal.

From islands to port towns, charming fishing villages to century-old cities, Croatia has a little something for everyone.

Dive into the heart of the Roman Empire with a stop in age-old Split. Perfectly displaying the evolution of late classical architecture incorporating everything from early Medieval through the Byzantine era and into early Christian art; once war torn Dubrovnik is now a charming city complete with cobblestone streets and quaint cafes or head to the islands for a spot of soul soothing quietness.

The Balearics

Make the most of the Mediterranean sun and choose the balmy Balearics

With a license required to cruise in Spanish waters, The Balearics remain a relatively peaceful place to charter in comparison to its French and Italian neighbours. Tourism is centred on the four main islands of Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera. Firstly, Ibiza is more than just holy ground for clubbers. Its jagged coastline contains dozens of dreamy white sandy beaches, hidden coves and bays, villages of white-washed houses and a green, hilly interior landscape decorated with fig and olive trees. Formentera beckons with its impossibly perfect, white sandy beaches and quiet relaxed atmosphere. With a ban on beach-front building, this island has retained its unspoilt charm. Menorca offers quaint cafés and relaxed shopping, seafood lunches and historic buildings. An afternoon here is sure to slow the pace and Mallorca is a mix of buzzing Palma with its historic architecture and upmarket restaurants with a mountainous interior perfect for hiking.
