Steve’s marine engineering career started with the Royal Navy in 1990, where he was awarded a degree in Marine Systems Engineering, jointly by the Navy and the University of Portsmouth. After undertaking numerous operational tours, Steve left the Navy in 2008 heading to Shell/STASCo ship management, taking responsibility for critical spares and the planned maintenance systems of 25 Q-Max/Q-Flex vessels, while also obtaining his Engineering CoC.

Departing Shell in 2013, Steve worked as Chief Engineer on superyachts, before moving to a technical management role in 2015-16 with Burgess. Steve has spent the intervening years as an Engineering Surveyor completing PUWER, LOLER, PSSR and COSHH statutory engineering surveys, before re-joining Burgess again in 2022 as a Technical Manager.

In his spare time Steve volunteers as an observer with the Institute of Advanced Motorists, bakes his own bread and has recently completed the COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate at Edinburgh College.
